wow 15 yrs. . .as a certified trainer. . .

After working for a large supplement company for a couple of years and then a big gym chain where I did not need to be certified as I was not training, I had let my pt certification lapse for the first time in a looong time.  As I have said in another post, getting a REAL qualified trainer is a bit of a crap shoot these days.  Certifications are basically a dime a dozen and any joe (sorry if your name is joe) can get one with a weekend course. .or, worse yet. . .online.

I remember my first client. . haha.  He was not a lucky man as I had no idea what I was doing with another human being in my hands at the gym. . .aaah, to be 18 again and be able to torture someone to the point of puking and have them come back and get more sessions. . .must have been my handsome face:)

Well, at 33 now, I have been at it a while and am married to this lovely woman. . .who is also a certified trainer (after 7 years together, 5 married how could she not be?) and dance choreographer. . .

And that brings me to my point. . and I will probably post about this again!

Hire someone after you know they are proficient at training themselves before you think about paying some big bucks.  I would recommend my wife to anyone. .even a competitive bodybuilder as she has trained with people from 65+ retired professors to Nabba Mr. Universe. . . .and dropped me like a stone a few times. .hmm, my punishment for being mean to that first guy:)

SO, get some references. .it is like a job interview after all. . .and see if they have any pictures of clients that they have worked with and gotten good results and/or a website with testimonials etc.

If you at any point get a feeling you are not safe. . .get your money back or switch trainers if you are at a large gym chain. .don't worry, better to hurt some feelings than your back!

Yours in Health and fitness!
Eric
